Frequently asked questions

Answers on the MenuWebStudio offer: what is included, revisions, articles, the AI Engine, hosting, domains, moving your current site and billing.

01

The offer

What exactly do we get for the monthly fee?

A fully managed, custom-coded website for your restaurant: menu pages set as structured content rather than a PDF, a reservation and enquiry flow that connects to whatever you already use, 90+ PageSpeed, managed hosting, a free domain, and 2 researched articles a week on The Folio and The Broadside, 3 on The Standing Order. Nobody on your team edits the website directly; you send us changes and we make them.

How long until my restaurant's site is live?

7 days on The Folio, 10 on The Broadside while the AI Engine is trained on your menu and policies, and 15 on The Standing Order while the Content Engine's editorial calendar is built. The clock starts at the onboarding call, not at purchase, so the sooner the onboarding form is in, the sooner you are live.

Do you write our menu descriptions for us?

No. The words on your menu are yours, since nobody outside your kitchen can describe a dish the way it was actually built. We handle the structure, the typesetting and the speed of the page the menu sits on, and researched blog articles are written separately from the menu itself.

02

Getting started

What happens straight after I buy?

You fill in the onboarding form and submit it. It asks for your current menu, your hours, your brand, your domain and where reservations and enquiries should land, and it takes about 15 minutes. If something is missing, submit anyway: you can send the rest by email or raise it as a ticket in your client portal, and it will not hold up the build. We then run one onboarding call to fill any gaps and agree the launch date.

What is the client portal?

It is your account with us, and you get it the day your site goes live. From the portal you request revisions such as a menu swap, raise a support ticket for anything that needs attention, send us files you still owe us, and message our team directly. Everything to do with your site runs through it, so a seasonal menu change never gets lost in an inbox. You never log in to the website itself; we handle that side.

What if our menu is not finalized yet when we sign up?

Submit the onboarding form with your best current draft. Menus for chef-led restaurants change often by nature, so the launch menu does not need to be final; it needs to be typeset and live, and the first real update after that is simply your first revision.

03

Revisions and the client portal

What counts as a revision, and what happens after five?

A revision is any change request you send, and there is no limit on how much goes into one. Swapping the entire seasonal menu, adding a new wine list, or updating hours for a holiday closure: each is one revision, not one per item changed. 5 are included every month. After the fifth, each additional revision is a flat $20, with no cap on how many you can buy and no hourly billing anywhere. Every revision is completed within 2 to 5 working days, whatever the size.

How do I actually request a menu change?

Raise it in your client portal. You describe the change, attach the new menu or prices, and it lands with the team as a tracked request so you can see where it is. You can also email us or reply to any thread with our team, and we log it for you. Unused revisions do not roll over to the next month.

Is a full seasonal menu overhaul really just one revision?

Yes, as long as it is submitted as one request. "Replace the current tasting menu with these six new courses and this new wine pairing list" is one revision regardless of how many individual dishes and prices it touches, which is exactly how a real seasonal changeover works for a chef-led kitchen.

04

Articles

What do the researched articles actually cover?

Topics your future guests are searching for: dining guides for your area, context on your seasonal menu, and questions specific to your cuisine and neighborhood, each 2,500 to 3,200 words. They are researched and written around your actual restaurant rather than a generic template reused across clients.

How many articles do we get a month?

2 a week on The Folio and The Broadside, and 3 a week on The Standing Order, at roughly four weeks a month, published to your site's blog automatically.

05

The AI Engine

What does the AI Engine actually do for a restaurant?

It answers common guest questions, such as dietary accommodations, dress code or private dining capacity, using information trained on your real menu, hours and policies, so a guest gets an answer without waiting for a phone call to be returned. It is included from The Broadside up.

Does the AI Engine ever take a reservation on its own?

No. It answers questions and can point a guest to your existing reservation platform or contact form, but the reservation itself is completed through the booking system you already use, so nothing about how you actually manage seating changes.

06

Hosting and management

Is hosting an extra cost?

No. Hosting is included in the monthly fee and never billed separately. Your site runs on a global content delivery network with SSL, DDoS protection and unmetered bandwidth included. There is no hosting invoice, no SSL renewal, no bandwidth overage and no surprise line item in month four.

Can the site handle a spike in traffic from a press mention?

Yes. Traffic spikes are handled by the same global edge network the site runs on every other day, at no extra cost and with no bandwidth cap, so a good press write-up does not become the night the website slows down.

07

Domains

Do I have to pay for a domain?

No. One domain is included free for as long as your plan is active, registered in your name, so you own it outright. If you already have a domain we point it at the new site instead and nothing changes for guests who know your current address. If you ever leave, tell us where to send the domain and we transfer it at no charge.

Can our restaurant have its own domain even if we sit inside a hotel or larger property?

Yes. A restaurant inside a hotel or boutique property can have its own domain or subdomain, registered in your name as part of the plan, so the site can be built to rank for the restaurant's own name rather than living buried inside the property's main site.

08

Moving from your current site

We already have a website. What happens to it?

We rebuild your site from scratch, custom-coded, using your current menu, brand and content as the starting point. Pages that are actually worth keeping, such as your story or press coverage, are migrated over; anything outdated is left behind rather than carried forward.

Will our current search rankings and URLs survive the move?

We map your existing page addresses to their new equivalents and put a redirect in place for anything that changes, so a guest or search engine following an old link still lands on the right page. Rankings for specific pages can shift slightly during any rebuild, but the intent is continuity, not a reset.

09

Billing and cancellation

What do I actually pay, and when?

You pay the monthly fee for the tier you choose up front: $117, $247 plus AI usage, or $597 a month. The $647 one-time build fee is invoiced only after your site is live and you are satisfied with it. Domain and hosting are inside the monthly figure.

How do I cancel, and how much notice do you need?

Email us and say you want to cancel. Your message must reach us at least 2 business days before your next invoice date, during business hours, which are 9:00 to 17:00 Central Time, Monday to Friday. A message sent outside those hours counts from the start of the next business day, so a weekend email does not give 2 business days of notice for an invoice due Monday or Tuesday. With valid notice, no further invoice is raised and your site runs to the end of the month you have paid for. With late notice, the next invoice is charged as normal and the cancellation takes effect at the end of that month.

Do you offer refunds?

No. All sales are final, and that includes monthly fees, the build fee, extra revisions and any cost we pass through at what our providers charge us. We do not refund for a change of mind or for a month you did not use. The one exception is a duplicate or incorrect charge made by our billing: tell us within 30 days and we correct it within 10 working days. The build fee is charged only after you have approved your site, which is exactly why it is not refundable afterwards.
